IP Telephony & VoIP in Multinational Companies
M Tofiq Qureshi, Orange Business Services
Recent research with multinational companies (MNCs) shows that,
despite fierce budget constraints, unified communications (UC)
implementation and integration is increasing. IP telephony rollout has
progressed painfully slowly in these huge organisations, but many
individual UC applications are now deployed, with a strong focus on
video in the coming year. Extending to mobile devices is a priority
for many. Almost all have a global IP strategy, and global vendor
partnerships are in place.
However, deployment of IP Telephony requires constant struggle. As
with any major change, it takes time for MNCs to absorb and adapt IP
Telephony. This is the main challenge in IP Telephony deployment.
Factors to be resolved include technical transition, financial
awareness of the product, skill set change and transition of roles and
responsibilities. Tofiq will explain how these challenges can be met.
He will explain the difference between IP Telephony and VoIP, the
gains that are possible with them as individual products and what
happens when they are combined. Tofiq has worked in this field for
over 10 years during which 40,000 IP Telephony handsets were deployed
in different parts of the world.
This event is free of charge and open to all, with refreshments at 19.00.
