language the first message I get is

Have a look at the contents of /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt and make sure you 
can log into the database e.g

mysql -u mythtv -p <password>

If you successfully login make sure that the 
/home/mythtv/.mythtv/mysql.txt file is linked to the one in /etc/mythtv.

Also take note of the hostname mentioned in these files and make sure 
that mysqld is listening on that interface.

If login to mysql failed you have to run mysql as root and run a quey to 
change the mythtv password to match those in mysql.txt.
