Hi Craig, I read your message post first, so apologies to Graeme for not
following his link yet.  I’ve got right down through to the point of
make menuconfig.  At that point I did only what you said, that is
navigating to and disabling FireDTV and FloppyDTV.  I’m not sure if this
is what you meant, however.  So in essence, have done exactly as you
suggest, including depmod -a.

After a restart, I've now installed Myth and opened the MythTV backend
setup from the System > Administration menu.  After selecting the
language the first message I get is
"No UPnP"  after that I attempt to work though the menus but in the end
a message says:-
"cannot find (ping) database host"
at which point it logs me out of the setup screen.  What do I do now?
