They are saying that only HDMI outputs will be permitted to carry HD content
on approved boxes. The article is pretty vague but what they are getting at
is that if your Freeview box only outputs HD via HDMI then you'll need a PVR
with HDMI input to record HD content and AFAIK they don't exist.

So.. comments? Mythtv an illegal device if used with DTT in NZ?

Of course not. They can dictate whatever restrictions they like as far as
approved devices go, but they can't do anything about unapproved devices. If
they broadcast unencrypted you are free to use whatever device you like to
receive that signal.
