Hi guys,

Just a quick note before anyone buys a Twinhan card:

DO NOT BUY A TWINHAN CARD!!!

Hehe, sorry, I bought one of these 1020A's over a year ago for mythtv but
it has not been without problems=2E Firstly, the driver for the frontend i=
s
not complete - meaning the signal strength and S/N ratio parameters are no=
t
reported properly=2E I could live with that but it meant I had no indicati=
on
on how close I'm getting to rain fade=2E These cards have low sensitivity
too=2E Even with a 90cm dish I still can't see Optus B3 and I've had a num=
ber
of rain fade drop outs this winter=2E The most annoying thing though is th=
e
EPG collection that runs while the backend is idle - every 15 minutes=2E
During the EPG polling, the driver almost locks up the PC for a couple of
seconds causing glitches in movie playback and games=2E Very annoying=2E I=

could probably live with that if the EPG collection only ran once a night
at some ungodly hour but, unfortunately, the backend setup won't let you
set the time interval to more than 15 minutes=2E How often does EPG data
really change=3F

So I just bought a SkyStar off "The Trademe Guy" (Martin) which arrived
this morning=2E I can give some more conclusive comparisons probably by th=
e
weekend=2E

PS: Twinhan remotes suck=2E

Cheers,

Sam=2E=20
