I think it's just you... No, the channels aren't matched up with their
frequencies in NZ, but they are roughly in order (One is down low in
VHF, two is a bit higher, 3 is in UHF, etc), although I think a couple
of channels are duplicated in VHF and UHF...

Automatic channel scans don't tend to be a very good idea. You're going
to have more luck manually tuning each channel number to the frequency
you want. You do that on older sony TVs by opening up the front panel
and pushing "MAN PROG" then using the volume +/- buttons on the front of
the TV to move up and down the frequencies. It'll cycle automatically
through VHF-L->VHF-H->UHF in that order.

You might want to get hold of the manual for your TV if you can't figure
it out for your particular model.  For that you want to be here:
