Introduction to Blockchain Technology

Pratap Tambe, Tata Consultancy Services

Thursday 22 Mar 2018 19.00 for 19.30

Palmer Building, University of Reading RG6 6UR

Blockchains offers a cheaper way of conducting digital value exchange
and/or asset-transfer transactions among nodes in peer-to-peer
networks. This way is cheaper because it ensures integrity through
decentralised consensus algorithms not requiring trust in central
party(s).

Blockchains can be public (such as BitCoin) or private, and this
distinction, and the associated permissions, as well as the relevant
KYC regulations, will be discussed.

We will also talk about TCS work related to public permissioned
networks and talk about the kind of solutions that can be created
using them in the insurance domain for individual insurers and for
consortiums of insurers.

This event is free of charge and open to all, with refreshments at
19.00, lecture at 19:30.
