Dear Members

 

The summer is over and with it completion of our efforts to comment on the
SBDC/Chilterns Local Plan consultation.

However, planning concerns never end. Those of you with long Taplow memories
will know that The Hermitage has been the subject of development
applications for 25 years, all so far successfully overcome. It is back in
play again with an application for change of use to 10 flats. Changes in
government policy are making objections ever harder to sustain.



The seemingly endless chaos on the A4 due to the cycleway works are slowly
coming to an end but don't worry. M4 closures will replace this chaos with
its own version weekends of 15-18 November and 29 November-2 December.

If that isn't enough then remember that the Marsh Lane bridge over the M4
will be demolished in mid-November. Local traffic (that's us) will be
diverted via Lake End Road overbridge until the new Marsh Lane bridge is
complete towards the end of 2020



On a happier note, St Nicolas Church is holding a quiz night 19th October.
Come along for some fun and help keep the church warm this winter.

 

Education. Those of you with concerns for the future of education locally
might want to attend a public meeting concerning Secondary Education in
Burnham 10th October.

 

Fire services. Bucks Fire Services are soliciting comment on their 5 year
plan at:
https://bucksfire.gov.uk/psp

 

Meanwhile preparation of our next newsletter is well in hand. It celebrates
60 years since the founding of your Society.
