Hi,
To answer my own question, I have downloaded Altera Quartus II Software
v11.0 SP1 Web edition and have it up and running on my Windows 7 x64
laptop. I've also built a simple 8 bit adder without any complaints.
Quartus is a 32 bit binary, but runs fine on Win7 x64. if anybody is in
the Riccarton area and has a portable media device with up to 6.5GB (I
could save you a big download, although you should still set up an
account with Altera to keep things 100% above board...
