If you want the best VAAPI can offer, you need to install the 01.org
PPA (there is an installer on the site to do that). That gives you
the latest Intel drivers and all the supporting modules that work with
it in the right combination. Since I did that, my i7 laptop has run
VAAPI just fine. Of course, its version of HD4000 video is likely to
be the top of the line one. I have not done any research myself, but
it may well have better deinterlacers than in an i3. But I have not
seen any deinterlace problems since I installed 01.org.
