First thing I'd try with firmware issues would be what has been 
suggested a few times on this list, power the system down entirely and 
remove the power cord for a while.

The key is to make sure the card has absolutely no power so the next 
boot will require the firmware and will clear any transient issues the 
onboard processor on the card is currently experiencing.
