[mythtvnz] Win-TV Nova-S card not working

My questions above still stand, but I was wondering if offers of beer or
coffee would help?
I was just looking at this page
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Cx88_devices_(cx2388x)
And it implies that everything you need to get cx88 cards going, is now
built into the latest kernels, and that v4l doesn't need to be added
anymore; and kernels don't need recompiling. Right?
Could anyone point me to a somewhat up to date step through of building
a mythtv box, as maybe I'm missing something fundamental here.
