At present, freeview is SD via the satellite (DVB-S), and HD via
terrestrial broadcast (DVB-T), that is if you're lucky enough to live
in a part of the country where FreeviewHD is being broadcast.

Apparently there are no plans to convert the satellite signal to HD,
as that requires more transponders, of which Sky is currently using
for their HD service
