As long as the outputs of the units are floating, then 3 x 48V in series 
sounds easiest.

Strongly recommend that you do a 'megger' type test on each unit first 
though: With the units unpowered, connect together plus and minus 
outputs, then do 500V insulation test between joined outputs and chassis.
