[chbot] web site problem

Hi all,

I'm not keen on facebook as our main point of contact, don't have any
problem however with having a facebook page for our group to advertise
meetings, encourage new members, etc. It would be good to work out what the
website's function is, ie: encourage new members, project pages for current
member, main source of discussion, source file repository for some examples.

I was a web designer in a former life, I have worked with Joomla before but
never really liked it as I found from an admin side it was really clunky,
although that was probably around 5 years ago so things could have changed
by now. My preference would be either Drupal or Wordpress, depending on
what we decide to use the site for, Wordpress for a more basic site similar
to a blog or static site, Drupal for a more complex site with more
functionality. A wiki is a possibility but I feel they just don't make nice
looking websites.

I agree with Volker about using a provider that offers CMS maintenance and
updates. I use Flexihostings (
http://www.flexihostings.net.au/web/shared_cpanel_web_hosting_2013A.html)
which is around $100 NZD per year. Their support is really good and I have
used then a lot for client sites.
