Progress!
In my Mythbuntu installation:
First I had another look at the  error code I got here:"sh extract.sh "
It actually was telling me it could not find "zip".So I had a look in the  
xfce
menu and found that there is no archive manager.So I installed 7zip.
Now these commands:" sh extract.sh" " cp *fw /lib/firmware" work.

Still have a problem though and am getting a "card not known to driver"
type message in grep dmesg | saa output.
So I will try the directions in this thread:

The good news is that I booted into the Ubuntu + MythTV and did a
seat-of-the-pants set up and was able to receive live TV freeview and  
radio.
I really need a good step by step set up guide.
