I have been to the manufacturers page for some HW that still is not 
specific.

My assumption would be PCI alone is the original PCI, PCI-e is x 16 and 
for x 1 and x4 it would have to be specified.

But I should not have to make assumptions.  It is a classic case of if 
you know you can find out and if you do not know you don't know.
