Actually in this case I am guessing the problem lies here:

I (list owner) support plain text posting only. Recently a seemingly
small message went over the list's 60k message limit purely because of
some ghastly formatting within it. There is simply no need for it.
Most at fault are mailers that don't seem to send a plain text version
as well as html.

So please, try to stick to plain text on this (and, I suggest, other)
mailing lists. Also try to stick  to bottom posting or inline (if
there are a number of points to reply to). I know that there are
reasons to depart from those rules, or just times where you forget, so
we don't need to snipe at each other when inevitable slipups happen.
