802.11g won't cut it.

802.11n might, you would want 300Mbps 802.11n, not the 150Mbps 802.11n Lite.
Also 5Ghz would be better then 2.4Ghz as it's not as heavily used, but linux 
support is an issue.

But a wired network will save you a lot of hassles.
