[mythtvnz] Series link

Hello all,

I was surprised that I couldn't find any more information about "Series
Link" or "Season Pass" support in MythTV.

According to the Freeview advertising (see, for example:
http://freeviewnz.tv/myfreeview/ ) myFreeview products allow you to
"record an entire series at the touch of a button". Presumably this
means that this series information is being broadcast in either the EIT
data or the MHEG-5 data. It would be excellent if this could be used to
add a "series link" feature to MythTV.

I am well on top of the different MythTV recording options.
Occasionally, the complicated options will let you do something very
clever. Usually, I find it far worse than the "Series Link" option in
MySky. For example, I often choose "all on this channel", but this often
finds the episodes at 10am from several seasons ago. If I choose a
time-related option, it obviously misses episodes that move time or are
extra long for a finale etc. I am also aware of using "all on this
channel" combined with "no duplicates" to get a complete set, but this
also doesn't solve the problem as well as using what the broadcaster has
defined as a series.

I see in the release notes of MythTV 0.21 that a "BBC Series Link"
feature was added:

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Release_Notes_-_0.21
but note that people haven't seen it in the application:

Ideally, if an episode had series link information, it would show as the
second recording option (after record only this one). In an ideal world,
in the EPG, I could push Rec and then one of the remote control's button
colours would display in the bottom left telling me that I could series
link it.

Does anybody know where this information is stored and how hard it would
be to add the ability for MythTV to use it?

Regards,

Aaron
