[mythtvnz] Advice for encoding ...

Co-incidentally I just installed Handbrake on a Windows box and my
Ubuntu Myth box over the weekend for the first time. Ripped a DVD of the
movie "Powder" that I own to H.264 1200MB size with original AC3 5.1
audio. Watched it this morning to check how it looked, and it's
fantastic. I dare say I could hardly tell the difference between this
and the original DVD.

Are there any settings that anyone would recommend to optimize the
encoding? I just used the "normal" profile.

Is there any way to get Mythtv to transcode recorded shows to H264? That
would be fantastic.

With a good encoder H.264 at 1500k should look quite good

I transcode Lazytown for my daughter to H.264 at around 1500k and it
generally looks as good as the broadcast MPEG2 SD streams, and yes
handbrake rocks.
