[mythtvnz] IR Transmitter

My media pc is in the wardrobe of my bedroom, and i also have a stereo
and dvd player in there, and want to be able to use the remotes from
these to control them. I know there are RF transmitters for IR signals,
but they can transmit it 30m+, when i want less than 10cm.
Is there some circuit that could accomplish this easily?
