I'm also a long time user of XBMC since the XBox days and much prefer
it to mythfrontend. I have a Linux server setup for recording and
playing DVB-T HD content.

For more information about MythTV support in XBMC have a read of
http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=MythTV

Anyone wanting to use XBMC to playback Freeview|HD content will need
to apply a patch that I created for XBMC using the great LATM AAC work
that Paul Kendall has done. http://xbmc.org/trac/ticket/5481

I'm currently using XBMC on the TV in the lounge exclusively. For any
scheduling I just jump on the Ubuntu desktop in the computer room and
use mythfrontend, which talks to the media server in the lounge. For
us, watching recordings is the main thing we do in front of the TV so
I haven't bothered even trying to setup something to jump into
mythfrontend on the TV.

Was going to mention a recent thread about this on the XBMC forums but
just realised it was you who started it.
http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49583

I'm almost finished another patch to XBMC so the commercials flagged
in MythTV will be skipped when playing them back in XBMC.
