[mythtvnz] With a Skystar2 card is a Hauppauge PVR (or similar) card still necessary?

I think you're a little confused.

You can capture from both TVNZ and CanWest's transponders with a single SkyStar2 card.  (Probably not both at the same time, but MythTV doesn't support multiplexing yet anway).  MythTV lets you set up DiSEqC parameters.  Have a read of the guide at http://www.wlug.org.nz/FreeViewMythTvSetup if you haven't already.
