[mythtvnz] Maori TV - odd aspect ratio?

You cant tell the aspect by the resolution. Chances are that program is 4:3,
since maori tv don't seem to be doing any widescreen yet.

I recorded a programme from Maori TV tonight (Taonga: Treasures of Our 
Past) from the 12608V transponder.

It seems to have an odd aspect ratio - 544x576, although clearly 
supposed to be a 4:3 programme. Is this normal/typical/done for a reason?
