How did you test? I can't seem to get dvbstream to play nicely for me.

I can tune and scan with;

dvbtune -f 1706000 -p H -tone 0 -s 22500 && scan -c

for which I get results, but if I try and stream with;

dvbstream -f 1706 -s 22500 -p h -o 512 650 | mplayer -

or any frequencies/polarities/pids I get;

'Not able to lock to the signal on the given frequency'

and nothing.

Any ideas why dvbstream doesn't like me? I was thinking it may be the tone 
thing again as it does report;

Using DVB card "ST STV0299 DVB-S", freq=1706
tuning DVB-S to Freq: 1706000, Pol:H Srate=22500000, 22kHz tone=off, LNB: 0
Setting only tone ON and voltage 18V
DISEQC SETTING SUCCEDED

(note the second to last line) but reading through the source I can't seem to 
see an option to set the tone :(
