Signalling the Future: the development of train control systems

Francis How, Institution of Railway Signal Engineers

Thursday 27 Oct 2016 19.00 for 19.30

Palmer Building, University of Reading RG6 6UR

The story of how railway signalling has developed is one that includes
both inventiveness and the learning of lessons through accidents. But
it is a story that it is far from complete. Train control systems
continue to develop and evolve in response to the need for improved
safety and greater network capacity, European legislation and emerging
technology.

In this presentation the Chief Executive of the Institution of Railway
Signal Engineers, which supports the professional development of train
control and communications engineers throughout the world, will
provide an overview of the technological development of signalling
systems, and what the future holds.

This event is free of charge and open to all, with refreshments at
19.00, lecture at 19:30.
