A sense of things to come...Access control for the “Internet of Things”

Tim Baugé, Thales UK

Thursday 26 May 2011 19.00 for 19.30

The "Internet of Things" is still a fuzzy concept. From RFIDs to sensor
networks, from smart grids to wearable computing, from pervasive
sensing to distributed cooperating objects, different people focus on
distinct features of what is still an emerging concept. But while the
broad overarching ideas are still crystallising, the underlying
technologies and applications are quite real and in some cases mature.

This presentation will first provide an overview of the concepts behind
the "Internet of Things" and its applications to try to make sense of
the diversity it covers, and then focus more specifically on the
problem of access control in this context.

This event is free of charge and open to all, with refreshments at
19.00.

Venue:

Gordon Theatre
Systems Engineering
University of Reading RG6 6UR
