The speaker will give an overview of the fundamentals of image
compression covering JPEG, the MPEG Standards, including  MPEG-7 and
MPEG-21. The related H.26x standards will also be  covered including
the H.262, H.263, H.264 and the upcoming  standard H.265, due for
release in 2010.  The latest recently  standardised video compression
standard, SVC (Scaleable  Video Coding)  released in 2006 will also be
covered. Application  scenarios will also be discussed.
