Stephen Hope, Senior Consultant
Research and Evaluation, Orange UK
Thursday 22nd November 2001 at 19:30
Oxford Brookes University, Gypsy Lane, Oxford
Light refreshments available from 19:00-19:30
Synopsis
Steve will chart the story of the unique WirefreeTM Video technology, developed for the Orange GSM
1800 Network from its inception as a funded Research Project at the University of Strathclyde. This
finally culminated in the Reality of the multi-functional Orange Wirefree Videophone which Orange
masterminded by melding together state-of-the-art technologies and creative skills from various
leading edge companies, all experts in their field. He will also describe some aspects of the video
compression techniques and the capabilities of the HSCSD (High-Speed Circuit-Switched Data) Service
offered in the UK uniquely by Orange, now the leading UK Operator, which is used by the Videophone.
Finally Steve will demonstrate that it really is a Reality!
