You may be aware that the government is proposing very major changes to the
entire planning system in England.

The proposals are at:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/a
ttachment_data/file/907647/MHCLG-Planning-Consultation.pdf

The consultation is at:
https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/MHCLG-Planning-for-the-Future/ or write to:
planningforthefuture at communities.gov.uk
<mailto:planningforthefuture at communities.gov.uk> Closes 29th October

The changes proposed are very dramatic, as they sweep away almost all of the
current planning processes under the control of local authorities. Just
about every control is sacrificed in a drive to build 3000,000 houses a year
with little regard to their type or suitability.

There is a helpful YouTube summary produced by CPRE that sets out the main
points in digestible fashion at:

We strongly recommend that you at least look at the CPRE summary as any
resulting legislation will affect us all.

Your committee is considering what response we may make.
