The new footbridge

Our new footbridge is a dream come true. When it was opened by the Prime
Minister, Berkeley Homes proposed to involve the community in deciding its
name. Everyone is invited to submit suggestions, an independent panel will
then create a shortlist which will be open to a final public vote before the
name is announced at a ceremony in spring 2019.

The footbridge was designed by Taplovian architect Martin Knight who has
asked South Bucks District Council, Taplow Parish Council and the Hitcham &
Taplow Society to support the simple and enduring ' Taplow Bridge ', a name
that will stand the test of time alongside Maidenhead Bridge and Maidenhead
Railway Bridge, and aligns well with the Taplow Riverside identity created
by Berkeley Homes.

The Society's Executive Committee has agreed to support Martin's
recommendation. If you share our belief, please e-mail
<mailto:taplowriverside at berkeleyhomes.co.uk>
taplowriverside at berkeleyhomes.co.uk as soon as possible to express this
choice.

improve the quality of design of homes and places. Civic Trust is a leading
voice in the representation of community interests to the government and
wishes to make its own representations on the matter. It requires some
funding to develop its submissions. Details of their intentions are attached
if you consider that this a project you might like to assist.
