Bucks CC issued the following press release yesterday (not yet on their web
site).
Bath Road travel scheme paused for re-evaluation
The proposed Bath Road sustainable travel scheme in south Buckinghamshire
has been paused for re-evaluation.
The shared footway and cycleway along the A4, aiming to make it easier for
residents walking or cycling to catch the bus or train, forms the mainstay
of Buckinghamshire County Council's sustainable travel scheme through Taplow
and Burnham in liaison with neighbouring Slough Borough.
This week (Tuesday December 6), Transport Cabinet Member Mark Shaw said he
wanted to re-evaluate the scheme in the light of responses to the recent
consultation.
The plans were consulted on in September and October. As part of the
consultation two public exhibition events were held at Taplow and Burnham,
which drew 40 residents, and an online survey questionnaire received 170
responses.
Mark said: 'We need to take another look at the overall proposals, at the
side road junction arrangements and at the proposed lighting.'
He said that once the project team had re-evaluated the scheme detail, they
would cost any amends and prepare a report for him to take a decision in due
course.
The cost for the scheme is being met from a £1.5 million Government Local
Growth Fund grant, through Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise
Partnership, and developer contributions of £190,000.
When completed the scheme will strengthen public transport links ahead of
the start of Crossrail trains in 2019, and provide Wi-Fi and real-time
passenger information at selected bus stops.
It will create connections between Taplow Station, Mill Lane housing estate,
the Bishop Centre and Slough. It will also provide links to cycle routes in
the area, such as the National Cycle Network Route 61.
Attached is a note of the Christmas services at St Nicolas church.
As you are aware, Christmas is fast approaching us which means Taplow's
annual 'Carols on the Village Green' are too!
The Carols will take place on Thursday the 22nd of December at 6pm. There
will be mulled wine, cakes, snacks and of course a festive sing-a-long.
Hope you can all make it and feel free to bring along any friends or family.
Thanks
Sasha Boden and Scarlett Wayland-Smith
