                  A new Police Information Point (PIP) has officially opened its doors to the residents of Burnham in Buckinghamshire. 
                  Buckinghamshire’s High Sherriff, Joe Barclay, joined Supt Steve Hockin, local police commander, to open the facility on Wednesday, 14th January 2015.

                  The PIP, which is situated inside Burnham library, Windsor Lane, and staffed by trained volunteers, is a multi-functional service that will provide the public with a range of advice on crime reduction and community safety as well as other police and community related information. It will also provide an opportunity for interaction between the police and the community as well as providing opportunities to exchange community-based information.

                  The PIP cannot be used to report a crime or incident. This must be done via 101 or visiting a nearby police station such as Slough or Maidenhead.

                  Supt Steve Hockin, local police commander for Chiltern and South Bucks, said: “‘A new police information point in the library maintains access to help and advice for local people at the heart of the community which is important.

                  “Local officers will also use the site as a drop in facility which will increase their visibility and accessibility.

                  He added: “The old Burnham police station had relatively few callers.  That site has now been sold to developers.  Making contact with the police and other agencies in a single place, the library, will hopefully give local people access to a range of services and information.  I encourage everyone to make the most of this opportunity”.

                  Martin Phillips, Buckinghamshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Engagement said: “I’m delighted about this new joint initiative between Burnham library and Thames Valley Police. I hope the service proves as popular with residents here as it has across the rest of the country.”

                  The PIP will be open during the following days and times -

                    a.. Tuesday 3pm – 5pm 
                    b.. Wednesday 2pm – 4pm 
                    c.. Thursday 10am – 12pm and 2pm - 4pm 
                    d.. Friday 10am – 12pm 
                  Detailed list of the services it will provide:

                    a.. Crime reduction advice 
                    b.. Anti-social behaviour (ASB) referral advice 
                    c.. Community Messaging sign up 
                    d.. Domestic abuse advice 
                    e.. Advice on whether or not a traffic collision is reportable (they cannot take traffic collision reports) 
                    f.. Neighbourhood team information 
                    g.. Police volunteer/Special Constable recruitment 
                    h.. Neighbourhood watch advice/applications 
                    i.. Guidance on Subject Access Request procedures 
                    j.. General advice/directions 
                    k.. Applications for firearms/shotguns
