As you may be aware a consultation has been started by South Bucks District
Council on a draft Planning Brief for the Mill Lane site in Taplow. The
consultation ends on the 14th December and any comments must be received by
the Council by that date.

 

The Planning Brief, when adopted, will provide Supplementary Planning
Guidance to any developer wishing to make a planning application and
developers will be bound to ensure that an application conforms to the terms
of the adopted Planning Brief.

 

An initial reading of the draft brief and, importantly, the supporting
documents accompanying it, seem to indicate a lot that is positive in the
draft, but there are some potentially very negative aspects.

 

In particular that 270 dwellings might be built.

 

In order to build that number the A4 Bath Road would have to be widened to 4
carriageways, traffic light control instituted and the tree belt, subject to
a Tree Preservation Order, on the north side substantially cut down and
replaced by a new road access to the site to the east of the VW garage.

 

The attached photograph shows the row of trees of which the first nine - up
to the third car travelling east from the bridge -  will have to be cut down

Please take the time to read the documents  in particular the Highway Issues
and Options report and send your comments to Euan Felton (
euan at efarresentations.demon.co.uk )  as soon as possible so that the Society
can make an informed response, both positive and negative to the
consultation.

 

Euan would also welcome your suggestions as to what other actions we might
take at this time. 

 

This is the Society's last chance to influence the outcome.
