SIP can do anything; it's a generic protocol for sending messages around.
Does your telephone handset hardware support this feature? :-) Is your
telephone handset hardware SIP aware? :-)
Neither have anything to do with the software that might produce the
relevant SIP messages.

If you're looking at Asterisk as a possibility, also consider FreeSWITCH.

You'll need a specialist support group for detailed questions about
these, however.
