Thanks Vik & SFDNZ, all inputs most welcome.

Hello Colin. I am a keen listener to both RNZ National, and your
contributions to it. You set the scene well for us a few weeks ago, with
your talk on GNU/Linux. Thanks very much for that. You do a great job,
on a key medium in our office-decentralised lives.

Here in Christchurch, we are gearing up rapidly for Software Freedom Day
07. If you have The Press from Tuesday, 11 Sept, you can see our first
advertisement on page A3. The next should appear on Saturday, p.A4. Half
the cost of this SFD advertising was raised through the Canterbury Linux
Users Group - clug.net.nz - and half from private sponsors. We are
running an Installfest in conjunction with SFD - a liveCD demo day, in
the main.

But rather than burden you with details now, I shall hasten this mail on
by directing you to this page:

Real Time Bus Info - http://www.metroinfo.org.nz/realtime_map.html

- of http://www.metroinfo.org.nz/timetable_maps.html

'Does it work for you?' There have been three threads on CLUG already
this year, about our FOSS-based inability to access the SVG info on that
page. By central e-government directive, from 1 Jan 2008 ECan will have
to fix this problem if amending the site. But that day cannot come soon
enough for us!

I am soon to prepare a media release, for explaining SFD, along those
lines. Is this a story hook you could use Colin? And if so, you could
help us get it moving if you can please reply with a best approximate
figure for the number (x%) of internet users that would be shut out of
Metro's "Real Time Bus Info" as of today - national browser stats, I assume.

Anyhow, lots more info for you when you want it, viz:

Good to meet you all.

Regards & cheers,

Rik
