iFuse is really for retrieving stuff from your phone. You can access the data to copy it off, but copying in the iPhoto media directory has no effect.
That said some will import information places in the ‘Downloads’ folder for the app. But an app by app feature.
I’d suggest you use the files app in iOS 18. If you can use the iCloud Drive, or (G-Drive/Dropbox) in the Files app,
(You can use apps directly from google or drop as well)
You can view images from there and then save them to Photos
