Remember that (a) China is holding huge amounts of US Govt bonds, (b) does not need anything that the USA produces.

On the other hand it does need some raw materials and foods and somewhere to go on vacation

So, expect China to continue trading with non-USA as before but even more so, buying stuff from the USA to run down their US Govt bond holdings, and selling almost nothing to the USA that hits tariff walls

Trump's views on tariffs perhaps applied to the world 20 years ago, they certainly don't apply to the world today
