[chbot] Spam - emails.

This may have less to do with the service provider, and more with the public visibility of your
various email addresses. If you have ever entered your email address in a web form that may have
passed it on, or even worse, if your address is visible on a discoverable web page, you will get
spammed for the simple reason that spammers can easily see your address. I for one am receiving
some 10-20 spam emails to my GMail address. I am not entirely sure why, but it doesn't bother me
too much either as almost all spam goes into the spam folder automatically (client-side via
Thunderbird). From there it gets cleared automatically after 30 days, unless I move it to
elsewhere if I have to fish some non-spam message out of the spam folder, which happens so
rarely that I can't remember the last time it happened.

And in the end it is fairly subjective what counts as spam, and what doesn't... "Viagra" is
actually a good example: if you have ordered some from the online pharmacy you may not want
related emails from the vendor thrown out, but if you have no interest in the product then it is
spam to you. This is the background of programmable spam filters. If you use a client that
supports training your personal spam filter it should not take all that long to get inbound
traffic sorted automatically. This should work irrespective of the ISP.

Kind regards,

Helmut.
