Hello everyone,
Couple of new faces this evening; welcome.
Good turnout with 22 attendees, and lots of huddles-of tech-talk. $34 +
change (in gold, and flat-money) collected and transferred into the
robotics loose-change jar (for later banking).
Quick reminder: equipment donations are welcome for the trading table,
but no CRT based product, printers, toner or items that are likely to be
a disposal burden. All sales from the trading table should go into the
brown box on the wall, and are directly for the benefit of our host
club, NZART Branch 05.
With thanks on behalf of the group,
Mark Atherton
============
Alan Leifting paid us a visit from Ecotech Services in Sydenham and gave
us an overview of his eWaste-centric business.
William had his latest wristwatch on display; he also gave us an update
on project progress. Battery life is now up to about a month, and unit
has acceptable accuracy.
Robin Gilks gave us an update on the ferrous-removal-project for the
Kiwi enclosure at Willowbank, in Christchurch; this project is looking
very promising. He also gave us quite a discourse on
wind-power-when-it-gets-out-of-control, which was rather scary.
Andy Dean gave us an update on the Crate Escape project and brought
along some latest-generation hardware. Newer exhibits include the
dark-room, and an outdoor AR exhibit. His son, and team also won
top-of-the-pile for robo-cop, at the oldest national level - amazing,
and very well done. Andy also passed around some laser-ready laminates
which were rather interesting.
