[chbot] Getting access to data on broken iPhone5s

Hi,

I am pretty sure this is a no go but had to ask.

Got asked to replace the battery on this phone but found the iPhone5s will
not start even after hooking it up with a good power supply (yep, used the
battery header for the logic). To be sure also done soft and hard reset
without response.

Is there any way to get access to the photos and contacts on this phone or
just bad luck?

NB Do not understand how someone can have a phone for years and never even
consider backing up / downloading important information.
