Please elaborate on "does not display".
Does averything show, except any text? I get this when running programs
over ssh sometimes. It's a font issue, so it shows "white eagles on a
white background". I thought it was related to fonts missing on the
remote host (the one the program is running, but not displaying, on).

Take some potshots as to cause. Check for KDE/gnome first. Those config
files are in ~/.local/, ~/.config/, ~/.kde*/, ~/.gnome*/, less so in ~/.
these days.
Safest to create a new user, log in on the GUI as that, then copy in the
files from your own user in chunks until it stops working.
How long since you last rebooted before? Or at least logged out? It's
always wise to log out at the end of the day. Linux machines have
been known to run stable for 2-3 years with that.
