A few years back I had success sending video from an RC plane at
2.4GHz using this biquad aerial design at the receiver, the plane had
a 1/4 wave whip: http://martybugs.net/wireless/biquad/ Using the
supplied helical whip at the receiver the range was hopeless. I had to
rebuild the camera to get the optics properly aligned. To get the same
effect these days I would fly a micro-sd camera to give much better
resolution, but not much help for first person view.
