"Canterbury University students are preparing to launch a rocket into  
the skies above Banks Peninsula.

The 2.3-metre-long, student-built rocket will travel faster than the  
speed of sound, reaching 2200kmh to get up to 10 kilometres into the  
atmosphere.

It will enable students to collect data to help them develop a  
real-time, self-correcting control system."
