Thanks King,
  It works now!! My module originally came up with the name 'linvor'
and was version V1.5.
Things that stumbled me; I'm using minicom and found I needed to make
a macro to send the commands since when typed in it times out.
(suspect it uses time instead of a carriage-return as suggested in
datasheet 05).
Also note there is no '=' when setting variables as suggested in
datasheet. eg. "AT+NAMEbob" works just fine.
