I don't know what the size of the Arduino bootloader is, but it might be a bit 
too big for some of the smaller parts.

If you're going to do a lot of AVR programming, I strongly suggest using an 
http://www.ladyada.net/make/usbtinyisp/ or similar. They're really fast and 
easy to use.
