[mythtvnz] Mythbuntu 11.10 to 12.04 upgrade - what problems am I likely to encounter

Hi Guys

I have been holding off upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04 after some members  
reported problems with /var being overwritten:

Was this a problem solely due to the upgrade being performed off the live  
cd?

Am I able to avoid it if I upgrade on-line?

Are there any other problems I may encounter.

My system is a BE/FE with O/S and storage on separate drives.
