Well that's history now. All the consumer drives seem to have 1 year
warranty except in the EU which mandates a 2 year warranty minimum.
This is one of the follow-ons from only having two significant HDD
manufacturers any more. That's Seagate and Western Digital. Every
other HDD maker is owned by one of those two.
Also the Thailand floods gave them an excuse to change things. (moan
whinge ....)
