IIRC the nova td-500 requires a kernel option to activate it's built
in amplifier, something like lna_activation=1

I have seen some threads recently about the lna "falling off" - ie
stopping working randomly, on recent kernels. I haven't looked closely
at the threads as I don't have one of these cards, but a search of the
main mythtv mailing list may be worthwhile.

A friend had one of those card sand I helped set up his system, i was
not impressed I must say.
